Whenever I was struggling as a teen, there was usually one place you could find me: the barn. Whether I was trying to sort through my thoughts or quiet them, something about being there usually helped me find whatever it was I needed in the moment.

Fast forward. I had completed two bachelor's degrees and two master's degrees, finished my counseling internships, obtained my state counseling license and national level endorsement, and achieved everything I had worked so many years for. And yet... I still found myself at the barn. With all my success, I still hadn't found peace; in fact, I had far less of it.

Stroking a horse as they munched their hay in the sunshine, I'd often think to myself, "I wish I could just stay right here and forget the outside world."

"What if..."

What if I could not only create the space I needed for myself, but also share it with others?

What if, instead of someone telling us what we should do, we found it for ourselves?

That's the idea of Cedarbrae was born.

A place to find what you need, at the barn.
Peace.
Quiet.
A judgement-free space.
A listening ear.
Or a soft muzzle.
Emotional regulation.
Self-confidence.
Rest.
Respite. In the rural.
